Senior Yellow Jacket Softball Player K.C. Young Has Been Named to the

ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace College senior softball player and pitcher/designate player K.C. Young (Olmsted Twp./ Olmsted Falls) has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team for her efforts on the playing field and in the classroom. The teams are voted on by 308 college and university division sports information directors from CoSIDA District IV which includes the states of Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.

With her selection, Young advanced to the national CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Young started in 31 of 32 games played at designated player.  At the plate she was second on the team in batting average at .322 with 37 hits in 115 at bats.  She also hit eight doubles, two triples and drove in 12 runs. Young has a .309  career batting average with 18 doubles, 4 triples and 31 RBI

On the mound, Young finished with a 8-9 overall record with a team-leading 2.25 earned run average including 99 strikeouts in 118 innings of work.  For her career, she has a 21-24 record with a 2.32 lifetime ERA and 261 career strikeouts.

In addition to being an outstanding softball player, Young has also made in impact in the classroom.  She ends her career with a 3.62 grade point average in Spanish and international business. Young was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District IV selection in 2004.
