Sophomore All-American Catcher Nicole Loudin Headlines B-W Selections on

the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Team

BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin-Wallace College sophomore All-American catcher Nicole Loudin (Sheffield Lake/ Elyria Catholic) headlines a list of four Yellow Jacket players who were named to the 2004 All-Ohio Athletic Conference softball team.

 Joining Loudin on the first-team are sophomore shortstop Casey Ward (Amherst/ Marion Steele).  Named to the second-team were freshman outfielder Lori Schmidt (Brunswick) and junior pitcher/ first baseman Jeanette Brezina (Parma Valley Forge).  The quartet helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 21-15 overall and 11-7 OAC record in 2004 and help B-W have its fifth straight 20-win season.

Loudin topped the team in batting average at .430 and led it in runs scored (26), base hits (43),  homers (11), runs batted-in (34), slugging average (.870), bases on balls drawn (20) and on base average (521).  After two seasons in the Brown & Gold, Loudin is batting .407 with a B-W career-record 21 homers and 75 RBI.  Schmidt hit .312, scored 11 runs and drove in four  and was third in stolen bases with six in nine attempts. Brezina was tabbed as a utility player and batted .297 with 11 runs scored, a double and eight RBI.  On the mound, she was 7-4 with a 2.81 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 72 and one-third innings pitched.  She started 11 games and had 11 complete games.  Ward hit .297 was first with 118 at-bats, second with 22 runs scored and tied with Loudin with a team-high eight stolen bases.  She also had three doubles, one hiomer and nine RBI.
