Baldwin-Wallace College softball team loses a pair of games in Florida; Yellow

Jackets have lost four straight games

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team lost both of its games tonight (Mar. 8) at the annual Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.  The Yellow Jackets lost to College (Pa.) Misericordia, 3-0, and to St. Francis (Ill.) University, 8-1.

With the losses, B-W falls to 1-5 and has now lost four straight games.

In the first game, the game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Misericordia scored all three of its runs to take a 3-0 lead.  B-W failed to score any runs and had just one hit for the game as the Yellow Jackets fell to Misericordia, 3-0.

Senior pitcher Jeanette Brezina (Parma/ Valley Forge) pitched all seven innings allowing three runs, six hits and struck out four batters.

In the second game, St. Francis put two runs on the board to take an early 2-0 lead after the first inning of play.  St. Francis would add to its lead with three runs in the fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth for a 7-0 advantage.  B-W scored its only run in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI double by senior second baseman Amy Gladieux (Northwood).  St. Francis secured the victory with one more run in the bottom of the sixth en route to an 8-1 victory.

Senior pitcher K.C. Young (Olmsted Twp./ Olmsted Falls) suffered her third loss of the season to fall to 0-3 for the season on the mound.  Young went the distance allowing seven hits, eight runs and struck out four batters.

The Yellow Jackets will look to end their four-game losing streak with a doubleheader tomorrow (Wednesday, Mar. 9) beginning with Rhodes (Tenn.) College at 10:40 a.m. followed by Waynesburg (Pa.) College at 12:30.
