BW Softball Team Falls To Cross-town Rival Case Western Reserve In Non-Conference Doubleheader

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader today (Thursday, March 29, 2012) to cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field by scores of 7-2 and 8-4. This marked the eighth game of a 10-game week for BW and the fourth of a six-game homestand.
With the losses, the Yellow Jackets fall to 11-9 overall while the Spartans improved to 15-3 overall.
In game one, the BW offense scored two runs on six hits and was led by sophomore leftfielder Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/ Field) who had two base hits in three at-bats with a double, homerun and two runs batted-in. Freshman shortstop Brittany Lightel (Tallmadge) went 2-for-3 and freshman centerfielder Mackenzie Brua (Avon) and sophomore third baseman Lauren Feciuch (Kent/ Field) each went 1-for-3.
On the mound, two Yellow Jacket pitchers allowed seven runs on 15 hits.
In game two, the BW offense would score four runs on 12 hits and was led by Murray who went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Feciuch and Lightel both went 2-for-4 and sophomore CF Nikki Peskura (Strongsville) went 1-for-3 with her first career RBI.
On the mound, two Yellow Jacket pitchers allowed eight runs on 12 hits
BW will conclude its six-game homestand with an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against Muskingum University on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets do not play at home again until Saturday, April 14 when they host Wilmington College to the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field for an OAC doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
