Baldwin Wallace Drops Two Games on Day Four of the Rebel Games in Florida

KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- The Baldwin Wallace University softball team went 0-2 today (Wednesday, March 12, 2008) at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida.  In the first game of the day, the Yellow Jackets fell, 6-2, to 18th-ranked Ramapo (N.J.) College and then fell, 6-5, to Benedictine (Ill.) University in the second game.  The Yellow Jackets are now 4-4 overall on the season.

In the  first game of the day, BW and Ramapo played three scoreless innings and then Ramapo scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, then BW answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and then Ramapo added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.  As a team, BW had eight hits in the game.  At the plate, BW was led by junior leftfielder Katy Munshower (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) who was two-for-three with one run batted in.  Six other Yellow Jacket batters each reached base on a hit.

On the mound freshman Mackenzie Rohrbacher (Sandusky/Senior) went the distance and gave up six runs on 11 hits while walking no batter and striking out four Roadrunner batters in the losing cause.

In the second game, Benedictine scored three runs in the first inning, then BW tied the game in the top of the third with three runs, then Benedictine added one run in the third and fourth, then BW tied the game in the top of the fifth before Benedictine scored what ened up being the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth.  The Yellow Jackets produced 10 hits in the game, led by sophomore centerfielder Jessica Esch (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) who was three-for-four at the plate.  In addition freshman second baseman Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) was two-for-four with a RBI, junior first baseman Caitlin Myor (Sheffield Lake/Elyria Senior) was one-for-four with a RBI, sophomore righfielder Monica Brasee (Wellington) was one-for-two with three RBI and junior catcher Shea Monschein (Wellington) and freshman third baseman Rebecca Miner (Berea) were each one-for-three at the plate.

On the mound Rohrbacher once again went the distance gave up six runs on 11 hits while walking one batter and striking out two to take the loss.  She is now 1-4 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets will close out the Rebel Game portion of their tomorrow when they play Emerson (Mass.) College at 1:00 p.m. and Ursinus (Pa.) College at 5:00 p.m. at the Osceola County Softball Complex in Kissimmee.
