With its losses, the Yellow Jackets are now 6-10 overall and 0-2 in the OAC. Mt. Union is 17-3 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.
In the first game, the Purple Raiders scored five times in the top of the second inning to take a commanding 5-0 lead and then added two insurance runs in the six inning and one more run in the seventh frame.
Despite the Yellow Jacket loss, senior All-OAC catcher Molly Sersig (West Salem/ Northwestern) was three-for-three at the plate with a pair of doubles.
In the second game, B-W gained a 1-0 lead in the first inning when sophomore pitcher Katey Munshower (Natrona Heights, Pa./ Highlands) hit a homerun. Mt. Union tied the score with a run of its own in the top of the fourth and added the winning tally in the fifth.
Despite the loss, Munshower had a solid game on the mound and had the homerun. On the mound, she threw a complete game seven-hitter and allowed two runs (one earned) and did not strike out or walk a Purple Raider hitter.
The Yellow Jackets next play on Tuesday, April 3 when they host OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. Next Thursday, April 5, B-W travels to Painesville for a nonleague twinbill against Lake Erie College at 3:30 p.m. and ends the week by playing an OAC doubleheader at Capital University on Friday, April 6 at 1:00 p.m.
