a Lightning Shortened Twinbill
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team fell, 1-0, to Allegheny College in a lightning-shortened nonleague doubleheader today (Tuesday, May 1, 2007) at Robertson Field in Meadville, Pa. The Gators won the first game, 1-0, and the second game was called due to lightning in the top of the second inning.
With its loss, the Yellow Jackets end their season at 10-23 overall. With its win, Allegheny end its regular season at 15-16.
In the first game, B-W and Allegheny locked up in a pitchers duel. Unfortunately Allegheny’s Allison Korotkin outdueled B-W sophomore Katey Munshower (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands). Munshower allowed just three hits and Korotkin five, but the Gators scored the game’s only run in the fifth inning via single, sacrifice bunt and a stolen base that allowed the winning run to score.
Offensively, freshman first baseman Meghan Ronk (Crestline) and freshman shortstop Lauren Sabolik (Strongsville) each had one base hit in three at-bats with a double. Senior catcher Molly Sersig (West Salem/Northwestern) and senior second baseman Lisa Liotta (Chardon/Berkshire) each went one-for-three in their last game as Yellow Jackets.
