Catholic Graduate Nicole Loudin Named as a Third-Team CoSIDA College Division Academic All-American
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College sophomore catcher Nicole Loudin (Sheffield Lake/ Elyria Catholic) has been named as a third-team CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) College Division Academic All-American. The award follow Loudin's selection two weeks ago as a first-team Division III All-American. She is the first B-W softball player to earn both distinctions.
Loudin earned CoSIDA Academic All-America status for combining excellence both in the classroom and on the field. Earlier this spring, she was named as a first-team Academic All-OAC and first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District IV player.
In the classroom, Loudin maintains a 3.6 grade point average in psychology and is a Dean's List student.
On the field, Loudin topped the Yellow Jackets in batting average (.430), runs scored (26), base hits (43), home runs (11), runs batted-in (34), slugging average (.870), bases on balls drawn (20) and on-base average (521). After two seasons in the Brown & Gold, Loudin is batting .407 with a B-W career-record 21 homers and 75 RBI. Her 11 homers this spring and 41 RBI in 2003 are both single-season school records. In addition, Loudin is a two-time first-team All-OAC and All-Central Region pick and was the OAC "Rookie of the Year" in 2003. Loudin was a second-team All-American in 2003.
"Nicole is a young woman who has all of her priorities in the right places," said veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Joe Yocabet. "She is very deserving of this honor. Nicole is an outstanding student that takes great pride in her work in the classroom. On the field, she is all business. She is a fine player and an even better leader.
"To be the first B-W softball player to ever be both an Academic All-American and an All-American is quite an accomplishment," said Yocabet smiling. "The only thing better is that she still has two more years to play!"
