Cassie Palmer Are OAC Players of the Week....Again
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior football quarterback Dan Larlham (Brimfield/ Walsh Jesuit High School) and senior volleyball middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/ South Central H.S.) have been selected as two of this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Players of the Week.......AGAIN.
For Larlham and Palmer, it marks the fourth time in their careers and second time this year that each has been tabbed as an OAC Player of the Week. It also marks the second week in a row for Larlham.
Larlham earned this week's honor for his efforts in a 35-17 victory against Muskingum College in New Concord. In that game, Larlham completed 15 of 25 passes for 60 percent for 259 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 108 yards in 11 attempts, including TD runs of 42 and five yards. His 367 yards of total offense was also a season-high. Larlham has led the football team to a 6-1 overall and 5-1 OAC record and it is ranked seventh in this week's d3football.com Division III national poll.
In addition last week, Larlham set B-W career records for total TD (86), total offense (7,758 yards) and rushing yards by a QB (1,620). His two rushing TD also give him 32 in his career and tie him with current senior running back Mark Anders (North Olmsted) for another career mark.
This season, Larlham has completed 86 of 148 passes for 58.1 percent for 1,122 yards and 13 TD with five interceptions. He is second on the team in rushing with 540 yards in 77 attempts (7.0 yards per attempt) with six TD. For his career, Larlham has completed 458 out of 787 passes for 58.3 percent for 6,138 yards and 54 TD. He has also carried the ball 393 times for 1,620 yards and a school career-record tying 32 TD. Larlham's 1,620 rushing yars is a school record by a QB. In addition, Larlham has accounted for school records of 86 TD and 7,758 yards of total offense.
This week, Larlham and the Yellow Jackets travel to Columbus to play Capital University, also 6-1 overall, 5-1 in the OAC and ranked 19th nationally. The game more than likely will put the winner "in the driver's seat" for an NCAA Division III National Playoff berth. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Palmer earned this week's accolade for her performances in wins against OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University, 3-1, in Berea last Tuesday and at Otterbein College, 3-2, in Westerville last Saturday. In the two matches, Palmer recorded 52 kills, 17 defensive digs, 14 blocks and six service aces. She has led the Yellow Jackets to a 15-12 overall aand 7-0 OAC record.
For the season, Palmer tops the Yellow Jackets with a single-season school-record and OAC-leading 514 kills, 100 blocks and 41 service aces. She is hitting .301 and also has 18 set assists and 76 digs.
For her career, Palmer has played in 455 games and set a new school career-record for kills with 1,708. She also has a .325 career attack percentage, 86 service aces and 534 career total blocks (202 solo and 332 assisted).
Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 28, Palmer and the Yellow Jackets travel to Capital for a 7:00 p.m. match that has OAC Tournament implications. With a win, B-W can both clinch an OAC regular-season title tie. This Friday, the Yellow jackets end the OAC regular season by hosting Marietta College in Berea at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium on Seniors' Day. Both tomorrow's match and the Marietta match begin at 7:00 p.m.
