Goalie Nate Christian are OAC Players of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College sophomore football running back Brandon Hedges (Oregon/ Clay High School) and junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference men's soccer goalie Nate Christian (North Ridgeville H.S.) have been selected this week as OAC players-of-the-week in their respective sports.

Hedges earned his honor as he ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns in his first collegiate start in a 27-14 win at Allegheny (Pa.) College on Saturday, September 4. Hedges scored on runs of 38, 16 and 28 yards and also caught three passes for 31 yards. B-W will be back in action this Saturday, September 18 when it opens OAC play and hosts rival Ohio Northern University at 6:30 p.m. at The George Finnie Stadium on Community Day in Berea.

Christian, an Academic All-OAC and CoSIDA Academic All-District IV selection last fall, earned OAC Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career. He earned the award this time for leading B-W to three wins last week, including a pair of 2-1 wins and a tournament title at the prestigious Virginia Wesleyan University Invitational in Norfolk, Virginia. In his two games at the VWU tourney, Christian allowed just two goals and made nine saves as the Yellow Jackets defeated a pair of teams that were preseason nationally-ranked. For the season, Christian is allowing 1.17 goals per game and has 21 saves for the 5-1 overall Yellow Jackets who next play on Wednesday, Sept. 15 against LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
