Baldwin-Wallace College Senior Jon Shoffstall Named as a Third-Team ESPN

THE MAGAZINE Academic All-American

BEREA, OHIO -- Senior standout track and field student-athlete Jon Shoffstall (Lakeview/ Indian Lake) has been selected as a third-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Shoffstall, a recent graduate with a degree in health and physical education and who intends to teach HPE and coach football and track, had a better than 3.8 grade point average.

Athletically, Shoffstall was a two-time Ohio Athletic Conference individual champion who qualified for this spring's NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet in both the discus and hammer events. He finished 13th in the discus with a throww of 165-feet and two inches and 14th in the hammer with a throw of 168' 0". In addition this spring, Shoffstall won the OAC title in the discus, was second in hammer and fourth in shot put. He also was the OAC 35-pound weight throw champion in 2004. Last spring, Shoffstall also was an NCAA Division III national qualifier outdoors in the hammer and discus and owns B-W school records in the 35-pound weight throw (53' 11.25"), hammer (181' 8") and discus (170' 6"). This spring, Shoffstall was a team captain and B-W's Most Valuable Thrower and received the Paul "Sparky" Adams Most Valuable Male Athlete Award.

Academically, Shoffstall was a Dean’s List student and member of the Alpha Lambda Academic Honor Society. He was a three-time Academic All-OAC performer, including a unanimous pick in both 2004 and 2005 as well as a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team choice, including this spring.
