Baldwin-Wallace Hosted the Unscored "Sparky" Adams Invitational Meet

at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Paul "Sparky" Adams Invitational Track and Field Meet at The George Finnie Stadium today (Saturday, April 28, 2007). The meet was unscored.

Highlighting the meet for the Yellow Jackets were the performances of sophomore Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) and  freshman Steve Price (North Olmsted). Scullion placed second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:38.41 and Priced finished the day with multiple Ohio Athletic Conference qualifying marks and season-bests. In the long jump Price posted a season-best and OAC qualifying mark of 21-feet and 6.25-inches while finishing sixth place, in addition to jumping another OAC qualifying mark of 43'1" in the triple jump to finish third and threw the javelin 141'2" to qualify for the OAC Championship meet and season-best.

Other placers for B-W include senior Megan Via (Bookville) with a second place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:53.50, sophomore Derek Hill (Fremont/ Ross) with a second place finish in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 34:03.80, the women's 4x400-meter relay finished in third place with a combined effort from senior Rihana Knotts (Middletown/ Madison), junior Courtney Smith (Mayfield), senior Kim Johnson (Athens) and sophomore Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) with a time of 4:05.66, sophomore Nate Bowen (Fremont/ Ross) with a fourth place finish in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:04.28, junior Alan Kidon (Chardon) with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.55, senior Steve Johnson (Canton/ Central Catholic) with a tie for fifth place in the pole vault with a mark of 14'1.25", Paul with a fifth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.52 seconds, junior Kristen Balogh (Loveland) with a fifth place finish in the 5000-meter run in a time of 19:19.66, freshman Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) with a fifth place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:08.48 and the men's 4x400-meter relay team placed fifth in a time of 3:28.00.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, May 4 when they travel to the University of Toledo to compete in the Rocket Invitational, meet begins at 10:00 a.m.

In addition, the Yellow Jackets will host the OAC Championship meet Friday and Saturday, May 11-12 at the George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio. Day one begins at 1:00 p.m.
