The Baldwin-Wallace College Outdoor Track Teams Both Finish Third at the

Disney Relay Meet in Orlando, Florida

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams both placed third at the annual Disney Relay Meet at the Wide World of Sports Complex on the campus of Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The meet concluded B-W's annual spring break trip to the Sunshine State of Florida.

Highlighting the women was senior All-American Jen Southall (Willoughby South) as she placed first in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:17.09 which qualified her provisionally for the 2004 NCAA Division III National Meet at the end of May. A year ago, Southall finished fifth in the steeplechase at the 2003 NCAA Div. III National Meet to earn All-America acclaim.

In addition to Southall in the steeplechase, senior Abby Comminsky (Fremont/ Ross) placed third in 12:38.62. Also, the women's 1600-meter spring medley relay team of sophomore Liz Redd (Canton/ GlenOak), junior Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/ Lutheran West), sophomore Mary Griglak (Cleveland/ Lutheran West) and senor Stacey Havaich (Austintown/ Fitch) placed second in 4:16.90.

Senior Jon Shoffstall (Lakeview/ Indian Lake) highlighted the men's performers as he won the men's hammer throw with an NCAA Div. III provisional qualifying throw of 167-feet and six inches. Shoffstall also placed third in the shot put with a throw of 46' 2.5".

Results of the Disney Relays are supposed to be posted on the Disney.go.com Web Site sometime in the near future.

The Yellow Jacket outdoor teams are now idle until Saturday, March 27 when they will run at the annual Muskingum College Invitational in New Concord.
