BEREA, OHIO -- Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) and Kristen Paulsen (Oberlin/ Firelands) both improved their national qualifying marks set previously this year as they boast the B-W women's track and field team to a second place finish while the men placed twelfth at the Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Scullion led the pack in the 1500-meter run to win the race in a school-record breaking and season-best time of 4:36.46, she bettered her previously school-record breaking and national qualifying time by 1.63 seconds. Paulsen won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.88 seconds, improving her national qualifying time by 0.11 seconds. In addition to the 100-meter hurdles, Paulsen also placed third in the long jump with a mark of 16-feet and 5.75-inches, finish fourth in the javelin with a throw of 107'8" and was a member of the fifth place 4x100-meter relay team. Other All-Ohio honorees include, sophomore Theresa Carona (Canton/ Massillon Perry) with a win in the javelin with a season-best throw of 118'9", freshman Jennifer Miller (Gnadenhutten/ Indian Valley) with a second place finish in the pole vault (9'10"), senior Mandy Quisno (Oak Harbor) with a third place finish in the in discus (119'11"), junior Megan Cathcart (Parma/ Senior) with a third place finish in the high jump (5'1.75"), sophomore Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) with a third place finish in the 400-meter dash (58.59 seconds), senior Rihana Knotts (Middletown/ Madison) with a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run (2:19.97) and the fourth place 4x400-meter relay team consisting of senior Kim Johnson (Athens), junior Courtney Smith (Mayfield), Knotts and Paul.
Earning All-Ohio honors on the men's side were sophomore Alan Kidon (Chardon) with a second place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 55.17 seconds and freshman Greg Patrick (Collins/ Western Reserve) with a fourth place finish in the discus with a throw of 141'3".
The Yellow Jackets will next compete on Saturday, April 21 when they travel down to Wilmington, Ohio to compete in the Wilmington Invitational, meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
