The top performances of the two-day meet for the men's team were top 15 finishes in six events. Freshman sprinters Jayson Hedberg (Sandusky/Perkins) and Ryan D'Arcy (Clayton/Northmont) both finished 13th-of-31 in the 100 meter dash with times of 11.55 seconds in the finals. In the 200 meter dash, Mark Deroux placed 11th-of-46 with a time of 22.61. Freshman distance runner Justin Tuckosh (Brook Park/Midpark) ran the 1500 meters in 4:06.61 to place ninth-of-43. Sophomore distance runner Derek Hill (Fremont/Ross) placed second-of-10 in the 10,000 meters by running it in 33:10.95. Sophomore hurdler Alan Kidon (Chardon) ran the 400 meter hurdles in 57.24 to place 10th-of-25. In field events, freshman shot putter Greg Patrick (Collins/Western Reserve) tossed the shot put 13.75 meters in the finals and placed 13th-of-37.
Sophomore sprinter Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) finished 12th-of-45 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.51 seconds. Paul also ran the 400-meter dash in 58.91 seconds, placing her 10th in the 41-person event. Junior hurdler and jumper Kristen Paulsen (Oberlin/Firelands) finshed the 100-meter hurdles ninth-of-34 place with a time of 15.43 seconds. Paulsen also tied for 11th place with teammate, junior jumper Megan Cathcart (Parma/Senior) in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meter and placed 12th-of-32 in the javelin throw with a throw of 33.32 meters. Also in the javelin throw, Theresa Carona (Canton/Massillon Perry) threw the javelin 34.56 meters and finished in ninth. Cathcart placed 14th-of-32 in the long jump with a jump of 5.00 meters. Junior hurdler Courtney Smith (Mayfield) placed 15-of-22 in the 400-meter hurles with a time of 1:12.10. Senior shot putter Mandy Quisno (Oak Harbor) tossed the shot put 10.93 meters, ranking her 15th-of-36. Quisno also placed 12th-of-37 in the discus with a throw of 34.98 meters.
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, March 24, when they compete in the Muskingum and Tiffin Invitationals at 11:00 a.m. in New Concord, Ohio and Tiffin, Ohio.
