The Yellow Jacket Women Finish First and the Men Second at the Ohio Athletic

Conference Quad Meet Hosted by Mount Union

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace women's outdoor track team finished first and the men second at the Ohio Athletic Conference Quad Meet hosted by Mount Union College in Alliance on Saturday.

For the women, sophomore sprinter Mary Griglak (Cleveland/ Lutheran West) led the Yellow Jackets winning two individual events.  She placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.44 seconds and in the 400-meter dash, Griglak posted a 1:00.12 mark to take top honors.  In addition to winning two individual events, Griglak was also a member of two winning relay teams.  Junior Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/ Lutheran West), sophomore Elizabeth Redd (North Canton/ Glen Oak), junior Rhiannon Regal (Painesville/ Harvey) and Griglak won the 4x100 meter relay and with a time of 51.01.  Griglak, freshman Stephanie Damas (Cleveland/ Parma Padua), freshman Rihanna Knotts (Middletown/ Madison), and senior Stacey Havaich (Austintown/ Fitch) won the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:08.65.  Rasmussen also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.21 seconds.

Other top performaces for the women include first place finishes by senior Jennifer Southall (Willoughby/ South) in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:19.50, Senior Amren Fraser (Brook Park/ Midpark) finished first in the high jump with a mark of 5'02.00", sophomore Angela Gruss (Tiffin/ Columbian) won the pole vault with a heighth of 8'6.00" and sophomore Megan McDaniel (Berea) won the discus throw with a distance of 127' 5". 

On the men's side, sophomore Mark Miracola (Olmsted Falls) won the triple jump with a distance of 42' 4.50".  Senior Alex Johnson (Olmsted Falls) took first place in the shot put with a throw of 52' 8.50" and senior Jon Shoffstall (Lakeville/ Indian Lake) rounded out the top performers for the men with a first place finish in the discus with a throw of 156' 7".

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Delaware, Ohio for the annual Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, Apr. 9 beginning at 12:30 p.m.
