Two Yellow Jacket Outdoor Track Athletes Compete at the B-W Heptathlon/Decathlon

BEREA, OHIO -- Yellow Jacket outdoor track athletes sophomore Amy Southall (Willoughby/ South) and freshman Steve Johnson (Canton/ Central Catholic) competed at the annual two-day Baldwin-Wallace hepthathlon/decathlon at The George Finnie Stadium.

Southall, who competes in middle distance and throwing events, participated in the heptathlon and finished with 3,003 points over seven events. She recorded a time of 2:49.19 in the 800 meter run and throws of 26' 10" in the shot put and 78' 3" in the javelin.

Johnson, who competes as a pole vaulter for the Yellow Jackets, competed in the decathlon and tallied 3,787 points over 10 events. He tallied 13' 7 1/4" in the pole vault.

Ohio Northern University's Chris Schmauder qualified nationally for the second time this year with 6,006 total points. He posted 6,026 points at the Joe Banks Invitational earlier in the season.

Johnson, Southall and the rest of the Yellow Jacket squad will compete at the annual Baldwin-Wallace Twilight Meet this Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
