Rebekah Paul

BEREA, OHIO — Baldwin Wallace University junior sprinter Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) is this week’s Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Track Runner of the Week and sophomore Steve Price (North Olmsted) is the OAC Men’s Field Event Performer of the Week.

 

Paul earned her honor for winning the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 57.44 seconds which qualified her provisionally for the 2008 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at the end of May. In addition, she was named as the “Sparky” Adams Meet Most Outstanding Female Performer.  Overall during her career, Paul is a four-time OAC individual sprinting champion and has been a member of four OAC title-winning relay teams.

 

Steve Price

Price earned his honor by winning both the long jump with a leap of 22-feet and one and three-quarter inches and the javelin with a throw of 172’11” and placing third in the triple jump with a leap of 42’7”. He also was named as the “Sparky” Adams Meet Most Outstanding Male Performer.

 

This weekend, Paul, Price and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will be in action when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio and Wilmington College to compete at the 2008 OAC Championship Meet at Williams Stadium. Field events begin on Friday, April 25 at 12:00 p.m. and running event prelims start at 4:15 p.m. On Saturday, April 26, field events start at 10:00 a.m. and running events begin at 1:40 p.m.

 

The Yellow Jacket women will be looking to pull off the 12th “Triple” of Head Coach Bill Taraschke’s career -- winning the cross country title in the fall of 2007 and the 2008 indoor track title this winter. The BW women have won 16 of the past 20 OAC outdoor meet titles, including two of the last three.
