OAC Players-of-the-Week: 9/13-19

Football

Offensive -- Marietta junior running back Steven Wagner (Harwick, PA/Fox Chapel) rushed for a career-high 258 yards and two touchdowns in the Pioneers 31-8 win against Heidelberg on Sunday. Wagner became the first Pioneer to eclipse the 200-yard plateau since Kenny Sasu on November 11, 2000.

Defense -- Ohio Northern junior cornerback Wes Hostetler (Strasburg/Strasburg-Franklin) had two interceptions for 44 yards and recorded nine tackles, including seven solo stops against Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. Hostetler also racked up 135 all-purpose yards.

Special Teams -- Baldwin Wallace freshman punter Kevin Soflkiancs (Middleburg Hts./Midpark) racked up 317 yards on seven punts, including a career-long 66 yard kick in the Yellow Jackets win against Ohio Northern. Soflkiancs also pinned ONU inside the 20-yard line twice. He averaged 45.3 yards per kick last Saturday.

Volleyball

Ohio Northern senior outside hitter Hannah Kanuckel (Warsaw/River View) hit .484 last week, recording 33 kills in six games. Kanuckel had just three kills in 62 attempts. She hit a blistering .615 in ONU's win against Defiance. Kanuckel also added four blocks, 41 digs and two aces.

Mount Union junior libero Kristen Sagula (Brunswick/Holy Name) was named to the Mt. St. Joseph all-tournament team last weekend after recording 133 digs. On the week, Sagula tallied 161 digs (8.94 dpg).

Men's Soccer

Heidelberg sophomore forward Brent Kehrle (Lexington) recorded a hat trick in the Berg's win against Bluffton and added a goal and an assist against Hiram. On the week, Kehrle tallied nine points.

Wilmington sophomore midfielder Chad Garman (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) was named the Kiwanis Classic Most Valuable Offensive Player last weekend. In three games last week, Garman connected on three goals and added three assists (nine points).

Women's Soccer

Wilmington junior forward Tiffani Glaser (Kettering/Fairmont) recorded her first goals of the 2004 season when she tallied a hat trick against Centre on Saturday. Glaser scored all three of the Quaker goals.
