OAC Players of the Week 9/26-10/3

Football

Offensive -- Heidelberg senior wide receiver Roc Patterson (Cleveland/Central Catholic) tied the OAC record and set the school record for receptions in a game with 16 last week. Patterson tallied 205 receiving yards and added a touchdown for the Berg.

Defense -- Muskingum senior defensive end Brandon Clum (New Philadelphia) scored his first career touchdown on a 62-yard fumble return last Saturday. Clum also added 11 tackles, including a sack for minus nine yards.

Special Teams -- Marietta senior return specialist Chris Sidick (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown in the Pioneers win against Otterbein last weekend. He also had two punt returns for five yards. Sidick is the Pioneer's career leader in kickoff return and kickoff return yards.

Wilmington senior return specialist Deon Short (Cincinnati/Mt. Healthy) became the first Quaker to return a kickoff for a touchdown since 2000. Short had three returns for 136 yards, including an 89-yard TD return to tie the game at 14 after Heidelberg took a 14-7 lead. The Quakers won 26-14.

Volleyball

Ohio Northern senior middle hitter Jen Ginn (Troy/Milton-Union) had 41 kills in nine games last week. Ginn averaged 4.56 kills per game and hit .432 overall. She also added 10 digs and five blocks.

John Carroll junior middle hitter Mary Teske (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) hit .482 last week with 31 kills and 11 blocks in seven games played. Teske helped the Blue Streaks surpass their win total from all of last year with their 12th victory of the season.

Men's Soccer

Wilmington sophomore forward Alex Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll) scored the game-winning goal in the Quakers shutout win against Otterbein on Saturday. Van der Sluijs also added an assist for the team's other goal.

Women's Soccer

Baldwin Wallace freshman forward Whitney Zunic (Canfield) scored her first career hat trick, including the game-winning goal with 12 seconds left in the second overtime, to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-2 win against Muskingum on Saturday.
