Yellow Jacket Men's Tennis Team Defeats Wilmington, 6-1, in Regular Season Home Finale in Berea
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men’s tennis team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington College, 6-1, today (April 22) in the regular season home finale at the "Pop" Collins Tennis Courts in Berea.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 18-1 overall and 7-1 in the OAC. With the loss, Wilmington falls to 10-9 overall, and 2-6 in conference play.
The Yellow Jackets won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches.
In singles play, BW recorded wins from sophomore No. 1 player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), senior No.2 Brandon May (New Philadelphia), freshman No. 4 player Jim Kucera (Mentor), freshman No. 5 Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) and junior No. 6 Dave Bensch (Oak Harbor). Daly's win marked his 14th straight dual match victory and is currently 22-2 overall.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Monday, April 24 when they travel to University Heights to play OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the regular season finale at 3:30 p.m.
