Baldwin Wallace University Menís Tennis Team Competed at Oberlin College Fall Invitational

Sophomore Joshua Pecinovsky went 2-0
in singles play and 2-0 in doubles play.

OBERLIN, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University menís tennis team competed in the Oberlin College Fall Invitational Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2. A total of 12 Yellow Jacket singles student-athletesand six doubles teams took part in the tourney.  

In singles play, the Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC player Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake), sophomore Josh Pecinovsky (Columbus/ Bishop Hartley) and freshman Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) who each compiled a perfect 2-0 record. Trzeciak defeated Mike Provenzano of Allegheny (Pa.) College by a score of 8-3 and Blake DeMond of Indiana Institute of Technology by the scores of 6-3 and 6-0.  Pecinovsky posted victories against Peter Scanniello of John Carroll University, 8-1, and Frank Mosconi of Allegheny by scores of 7-5, 4-6 and 12-10.  Patterson defeated  Sriram Aranganathan of Indiana Tech, 9-8 (6-0 in the tie-breaker), and Charlie Marks of Oberlin by scores of 3-6, 6-3, 10-1.

In addition, BW received single victories from senior Taylor Long (Ashland), junior All-OAC player Joe Horvath (North Royalton) and junior Alex Kearney (North Olmsted), sophomores Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) and freshmen Mike Mullaney (South Bend, Indiana/ St. Josephís), Kevin Paradis (Olmsted Falls) and Andreas Reichert (New Philadelphia/ Claymont).

In doubles action, the teams of Patterson and Pecinovsky and Horvath and Trzeciak had a records of 2-1.  Patterson and Pecinovsky defeated Jordan Cunningham and Gary Zambrano of Indiana Tech, 8-1, and Michael Hulseman and Hunter Pellegrini of JCU by a score of 8-5.  Horvath and Trzeciak posted victories against Mike Provenzano and Alex Hurtuk of Allegheny, 8-6, and Tim Spitzer and Peter Scanniello of JCU, 8-5.

In addition, the doubles teams of Long and Minrovic and sophomore Zach Elbin (Findlay) and Paradis each posted one victory.

The Yellow Jackets will be idle until their first match of the spring schedule in mid-February.
