Baldwin Wallace Menís Tennis Team Defeats Franciscan, 8-1

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University menís tennis won its second match of the 2011-12 season as it defeated Fransiscan University, 8-1, today (Saturday, September 17, 2011)  by a final score of 8-1.

BW won five of six singles and all three doubles matches. In singles, senior Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake) won at No.1 in straight sets by the scores of 6-3 and 6-4, junior Joe Horvath (North Royalton) won at No.2 by a 6-1 and 6-1 score, junior Alex Kearney (North Olmsted) won at No.3 in three sets with scores of 6-2, 2-6 and 1-0 (6), sophomore Brad Minrovic (Akron/Ellet) won at No.5 by a 6-1 and 6-0 count and asophomore Joshua Pecinovsky (Whitehall/Columbus Bishop Hartley) won at No6 by a 6-2 and 6-0 score. BW again swept the doubles competition. Trzeciak and Horvath won at No.1 by an 8-3 score, Minrovic and senior Taylor Long (Ashland) triumphed at No.2 by a 9-7 score, and Kearney and freshman Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) won at No.3 by a 8-3 score.

BW will next compete in the USTA/ITA Central Region Championships at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri from Sept. 23-26. The Yellow Jackets then will conclude their abbreviated fall schedule by playing in the Oberlin College Fall Invitational Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2.

For over a decade, Brian Rectorís team has gone to the next level. His teams have always been an Ohio Athletic Conference-title contender.  In the last 10-plus seasons, Rectorís teams are an amazing 204-28, including the current 2-0 record this fall. That mark includes seven 20-win seasons, the schoolís only unbeaten campaign. The lowest win total during the span is 18.
