Baldwin Wallace University Men's Tennis Team Defeats OAC Rival Mount Union, 7-2

Alex Trzeciak remained undefeated
in OAC play with a straight set victory
BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men’s tennis team defeated the University of Mount Union today (Wednesday, April 13) in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual match, 7-2, at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improved to 17-2 overall and 3-1 in the OAC while Mount Union dropped to 6-7 overall and 3-1 in the OAC.
BW remained strong throughout the match by winning five of six singles matches, as well as two of three doubles matches to earn its seven points.
In singles play, junior number one player Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake) , sophomore No.2 player Joe Horvath (North Royalton), junior No.3 player Alex Kearney (North Olmsted), and senior No.5 player Sam Burris (Wooster) all won in straight sets. Senior No.4 player Matt Lachman (Cleveland Heights/ St. Edward) won his match 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 and 10-6 in the super tiebreaker. Burris remains the team leader in wins posting an overall record of 18-3 and OAC record of 3-1. Trzeciak remains undefeated in the OAC with a 4-0 record and improves his overall record to 17-4. Lachman improves his overall record to 18-3, and Horvath is now 16-3.
In doubles play, the No.1 duo of Horvath and Lachman defeated their opponents 8-2 and remained perfect in the OAC with a 4-0 record. The win by Horvath and Lachman was their eighth straight win and they improved their overall mark to 15-3, including a 9-1 slate at No.1. Also in doubles action, Kearney and junior Taylor Long (Ashland) defeated their opponents 8-1 and improved their overall record to 15-2.
BW is back in action on Saturday, April 16 when they host Ohio Northern University in a key OAC match at 1:00 p.m. The last home match of the season for the Yellow Jackets is on Wednesday, April 27 when the Yellow Jackets host the Cardinals of Otterbein University at 3:30 p.m.
