ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI --  The Baldwin Wallace University menís tennis team competed in the USTA/ITA
Central Regional Championships on Friday-Monday, September 23-26 hosted by Washington University.   Six singles players and two doubles teams took part in the tournament.  

In singles play, the Yellow Jackets were led by senior Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake) and freshman Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) with two victories apiece.  Trzeciak defeated Brad Maisey of Earlham (Ind.) College by scores of 6-0 and 6-3 and Naveen Chadalavada of Washington University by default.  Patterson defeated  Andrew Shiakallis of Monmouth (Ill.) College  by scores of 6-0 and 6-2 and Vashon Wright of Calvin (Mich.) College  6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

In addition, BW got single victories from juniors Joe Horvath (North Royalton) and Alex Kearney (North Olmsted) and sophomores Brad Minrovic (Akron/Ellet) and Joshua Pecinovsky(Columbus/Bishop Hartley).

In doubles action, the team of sophomore Minrovic and senior Taylor Long (Ashland) won two of four matches.  The duo dropped the first match to Joel Parrish and Stephan Raugh of Wheaton (Ill.) College by a final score of 8-5.  In the consolation bracket, Minrovic and Taylor defeated Bill Blake and Greg Knaggs of the University of the Ozarks (Mo.) 8-2 and then ousted Parker Bussies and Davis Vanderveen of Hope (Mich.) College by a final score of 8-4.   The team fell in the consolation semifinals to Alec Belden and Tyler Wollmershauser of Westminster (Mo.) College by a score of 8-6.

The Yellow Jackets will compete in their final tournament of the fall this  Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2 when they will travel to nearby Oberlin to take part in the Oberlin College Invitational on the Don Hunsinger Tennis Courts at 9:00 a.m.
