Baldwin Wallace University Men’s Tennis Team Defeats Gordon (Mass.), 9-0, in Hilton Head (S.C.)

BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin Wallace University men’s tennis team defeated Gordon (Mass.) College, 9-0, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in Hilton Head, South Carolina on the third day of its annual spring break trip. With the victory, BW improves to 8-1 this season.
In addition to remaining undefeated, BW and veteran Head Coach Brian Rector, who has a 334-71 career record in 20 seasons, is seeking to lead the Yellow Jackets to a seventh 20-win season in the past eight years.
In its victory, senior number-one singles player Jim Kucera (Mentor), sophomore No.2 player Matt Lachman (Cleveland Heights/ Lakewood St. Edward), junior No. 3 Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No. 4 Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake), sophomore No. 5 Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) and sophomore No. 6 Bobby Irwin (Ashland/ Senior) were all victorious.
In doubles action, the No.1 duo of Kucera and Lachman, the No 2 team of Redd and senior Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) and the No.3 tandem of Trzeciak and freshman Taylor Long (Ashland/ Senior) all won.
BW wraps up its annual Spring Break Trip in Hilton Head tomorrow when it plays Trine (Ind.) University at 10:00 a.m.
The Yellow Jackets open the 2009 northern schedule against Notre Dame College (of Ohio) on Friday, March 20 on the “Pop” Collins Courts in Berea at 5:00 p.m. The Ohio Athletic Conference season begins on Saturday, March 28 when they host Mount Union College at the “Pop” Collins Courts at 1:00 p.m. The 2009 OAC Tournament begins on April 30 at the Lindner Family Courts in Mason, Ohio.
