BW Men’s Tennis Team Loses at Ohio Northern, 8-1, in OAC Match in Ada

BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin Wallace University men’s tennis team lost to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University, 8-1, today (Tuesday, April 7, 2009) in an OAC match inside the ONU Sports Center in Ada.  The match was moved indoors due to inclement weather outside.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets drop their record to 14-3 overall and 3-2 in the OAC and end a two-match winning streak.  ONU improves to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the OAC.

The Polar Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play and never looked back as they also won five of six singles matches. BW gained its lone win from sophomore number five singles player Bobby Irwin (Ashland/ Senior) who defeated ONU’s Jay Vaidya, 7-6 in the first set, including 10-8 in the tie-breaker, and 6-2 in the second set.

BW will next play on Wednesday, April 15 when they host OAC rival Capital University in an OAC dual match at the “Pop” Collins Courts at 3:30 p.m.
