Yellow Jacket Men’s Tennis Team Plays at Oberlin Tourney

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team competed in its only fall event on Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27 when it travelled to Oberlin, Ohio to compete at the Oberlin College Fall Invitational.

The tourney was alligned in a singles and doubles format with no team scores kept. A total of five schools partcipated and almost every member of the Yellow Jacket varsity participated.

In singles play, four B-W players had perfect 2-0 records. They were junior Justin Levine (Mentor), freshman Paul Carman (Port Clinton), freshman Joe Horvath (North Royalton) and junior Bobby Irwin (Ashland/ Senior). In doubles play, the tandems of Horvath and junior Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) and senior Andy Redd (Archbold) and junior Matt Lachman (Cleveland Heights/ Lakewood St. Edward) each were 3-0 and the duo of Irwin and Carman finished 2-1.

The Yellow Jacket winter/ spring schedule will continue in February when B-W will play a few dual matches before heading south on its annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
