BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team defeated Northwestern (Minn.) College, 9-0, today (Tuesday, March 11, 2008) in its first match of its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The victory improved B-W to 6-3 overall and 1-0 on its spring trip. With its loss, Northwestern fell to 0-5 overall.
In singles play, senior number one player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), freshman No.2 player Tyler Adams (Wheelersburg), junior No.3 player Jim Kucera (Mentor), sophomore No.4 player Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No.5 player Matt Lachman (Avon Lake/ Cleveland St. Edward) and freshman No.6 player Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) all won in straight sets. Overall, the Yellow Jacket men won 72 of 79 total singles games.
In doubles play, the No.1 duo of Daly and Kucera, the No.2 tandem of Adams and Lachman and the No.3 duo of Redd and Burris all won. B-W again dominated as it won 24 of 32 doubles games. For the match, B-W captured 96 of 111 total games.
The Yellow Jacket men return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, March 12 when they play Wheaton (Ill.) College at 12:00 p.m. and Rensselaer Polytechnic (Mass.) institute at 6:00 p.m.
