BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University, 9-0, today (Wednesday, April 3, 2008) in University Heights. The win was B-W’s seventh straight.
The victory improved B-W to12-3 overall and 3-0 in the OAC. With its loss, JCU is now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the OAC.
In singles play, senior No.1 player James Daly (Akron Firestone), the 2007 OAC Player of the Year, freshman No.2 player Tyler Adams (Wheelersburg), junior No.3 player Jim Kucera (Mentor), sophomore No.4 player Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No.5 player Matt Lachman (Cleveland Heights/ Lakewood St. Edward) and freshman No.6 player Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) all won in straight sets.
In doubles play, the No.1 duo of Daly and Kucera, the No.2 tandem of Adams and Lachman and the No.3 duo of Redd and junior Zach Long (Ashland) also swept to victory.
The next B-W men’s tennis match is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 when they travel to Alliance to play Mount Union College in an OAC dual match at 1:00 p.m.
