BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team defeated Wheaton (Mass.) College, 7-2, today (Wednesday, March 12, 2008) in its second match of its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The victory improved B-W, currently ranked 20th in the Central Region of Division III by ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association), to 7-3 overall and 2-0 on its spring trip. Wheaton, which came into the match ranked 18th in the Northeast Region, dropped its first match of the season and fell to 3-1 overall.
In singles play, senior number one player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), freshman No.2 player Tyler Adams (Wheelersburg), freshman No.5 player Matt Lachman (Avon Lake/ Cleveland St. Edward) and freshman No.6 player Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) all won in straight sets.
In doubles play, the No.1 duo of Daly and Kucera, the No.2 tandem of Adams and Lachman and the No.3 duo of Redd and sophomore Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) all won.
The Yellow Jacket men return to action later today when they play Rensselaer Polytechnic (Mass.) Institute at 6:00 p.m.
