BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team defeated Defiance College, 9-0, today (Saturday, February 23, 2008) at the Paramount Tennis Club in Medina, Ohio. The Yellow Jackets also play the University of Northwestern Ohio later this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the North Ridge Racquet Club in North Ridgeville.
With its victory, B-W improved to 3-2 overall. With its loss, Defiance dropped to 0-2 overall.
In singles play, senior number one player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone) defeated Tim Kurtz of Definace by the scores of 6-1 and 6-0. In addition, freshman No.2 player Tyler Adams (Wheelersburg), junior No.3 player Jim Kucera (Mentor), sophomore No.4 player Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No.5 player Matt Lachman (Avon Lake/ Cleveland St. Edward) and freshman No.6 player Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) all won in straight sets. In doubles play, the No.1 duo of Daly and Kucera, the No.2 tandem of Adams and Lachman and the No.3 duo of Redd and Burris all won.
The Yellow Jacket men also are in action tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 24 when they travel to Gambier to play Walsh University at 3:30 p.m. and host and nationally-ranked Kenyon College at 7:00 p.m.
