BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University, 9-0, today (Tuesday, April 8, 2008) at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Complex in Berea. The win was B-W’s ninth in a row as the Yellow Jackets did not drop a single set on the day.
The victory improved B-W to 14-3 overall and 5-0 in the OAC. With its loss, Capital is now 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the OAC.
In singles play, senior No.1 player James Daly (Akron Firestone), the 2007 OAC Player of the Year, freshman No.2 player Tyler Adams (Wheelersburg), junior No. 3 Jim Kucera (Mentor), freshman No.4 player Matt Lachman (Cleveland Heights/ St. Edward), freshman No.5 player Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) and junior No.6 Zach Long (Ashland/Senior) all won in straight sets.
In doubles play B-W lost only three games, as the No.1 duo of Daly and Kucera, the No.2 tandem of Adams and Lachman and the No. 3 duo of Burris and Long all won.
The next B-W men’s tennis match is scheduled for Friday, April 11 when they travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania to play a non-conference match against Allegheny (Pa.) College at 4:30 p.m.
