BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's tennis team continued its winning ways as the Yellow Jackets defeated Westminster (Pa.) College, 9-0, today (Wednesday, March 7, 2007) in its first of two matches today on its annual spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
With its win, B-W improves to 10-0 this season, including a 5-0 record in Hilton Head. The Yellow Jackets play their final match of the trip tonight against Lebanon Valley (Pa.) College at 6:00 p.m. Westminster is now 1-2 overall.
In its win versus Westminster, junior number one singles player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), senior No.2 player Ryan McCartney (Lorain/ Admiral King), freshman No. 3 player Andy Redd (Archbold), sophomore No. 4 player Jim Kucera (Mentor), sophomore No.5 player Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) and freshman No.6 player Nick Harpley (Medina/ Highland) all won in singles play.
In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Daly and Kucera, No. 2 duo of Long and Mitoff and the No.3 duo of Redd and freshman Zach Apperson (Zanesville/Rosecrans) all won.
The Yellow Jackets return to Berea on Saturday and open northern play on March 16 when they host traditional rival Oberlin College at the "Pop" Collins Tennis Complex at 3:30 p.m.
