BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's tennis team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan College, 5-4, today (Monday, March 5) in the third match of its 2007 Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. It was the best and closest match of the season so far for the Yellow Jackets.
With the win, the Yellow Jacket men improve to 8-0 this season and 3-0 on its trip to Hilton Head Island. The victory also was the 293rd in the career of veteran Head Coach Brian Rector '89. Rector now has a career mark of 293-62.
In the win versus WVW, number one singles player and junior James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), No.5 player and freshman Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) and No.6 player and senior Dan Mitoff (Lorain/ Admiral King) all won in singles play. In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Daly and sophomore Jim Kucera (Mentor), the No.3 duo of Redd and senior Ryan McCartney (Lorain/ Admiral King) both won.
The Yellow Jacket men next play on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 when they face Wabash (Ind.) College at 8:00 a.m.
