BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's tennis team continued its winning ways as the Yellow Jackets defeated Lynchburg (Va.) College, 9-0, today (Sunday, March 4, 2007) in its first match, and then won against Elizabethtown (Pa.) College, 9-0, on the first day of its annual spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
With its wins today, B-W improves to 7-0 this season. B-W had a 5-0 pre-tournament record this winter and will play five more dual matches while in Hilton Head.
In its win versus Lynchburg, junior number one singles player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), No.2 player and senior Ryan McCartney (Lorain/ Admiral King), freshman No. 3 player Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No.4 player Zach Apperson (Zanesville/ Rosecrans), sophomore No. 5 player sophomore Jim Kucera (Mentor) and sophomore No. 6 player Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) all won in singles play.
In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Daly and Kucera, No. 2 Long and senior Dan Mitoff (Lorain/Admiral King), and the No.3 duo of Redd and Apperson all won.
Against Elizabethtown, Daly, McCartney, Redd, Apperson, Kucera, and Long each won in singles play, and the doubles teams of No.1 Daly and Kucera, No.2 Long and No.3 Mitoff, and McCartney and Redd again won doubles matches.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow (March 5) against West Virginia Wesleyan University at 8:00 a.m.
