BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's tennis team defeated Penn State-Behrend College, 9-0, at the Lou Higgins Center n Berea in the second match of its 2007 season-opening tennis matches.
The Yellow Jackets, now 2-0, beat Ohio Wesleyan University, 8-1, this morning (Saturday, February 10) at the Paramount Tennis Club in Medina and then beat PSB in the Higgins Center. The matches were the first two of five that B-W will play before its annual Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina from March 3-11.
In the win versus PSB, number one singles player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), senior No.2 player Ryan McCartney (Lorain/ Admiral King), freshman No. 3 player Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No. 4 player Zach Apperson (Zanesville/ Bishop Rosecrans) and sophomore No. 6 player Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) all won in singles play. In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Daly and sophomore Jim Kucera (Mentor), the No.2 duo of Long and senior Dan Mitoff (Lorain/ Admiral King) and the No.3 duo of Redd and Apperson all won.
The Yellow Jacket men next play on Saturday, February 17 when they host Hiram College at 12:00 p.m. at Paramount in Medina and then host Ohio Dominican University at 6:30 p.m. at the North Ridge Racket Club in North Ridgeville.
