BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's tennis team continued its winning ways this winter as the Yellow Jackets defeated Defiance College, 8-1, today (Saturday, February 24, 2007) at the North Ridge Racket Club in North Ridgeville to improve to 5-0 this season. The Yellow Jackets open spring break trip play on March 4 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In its win versus Defiance, junior number one singles player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), No.2 player and senior Ryan McCartney (Lorain/ Admiral King), freshman No. 3 player Andy Redd (Archbold), freshman No.4 player Zach Apperson (Zanesville/ Rosecrans), sophomore No. 5 player sophomore Jim Kucera (Mentor) and sophomore No. 6 player Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) all won in singles play.
In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Daly and Kucera and the No.3 duo of Redd and Apperson won.
In Hilton Head, the Yellow Jackets will play six matches in four days as they face Lynchburg (Va.) College on March 4 at 12:00 p.m., West Virginia Wesleyan University on March 5 at 8:00 a.m., Wabash (Ind.) College at 8:00 a.m. and Waynesburg (Pa.) College at 11:00 a.m. on March 6 and Westminster (Pa.) College at 2:00 p.m. and Lebanon Valley (Pa.) College at 6:00 p.m. on Match 7. B-W opens spring northern play on March 16 at home at The "Pop" Collins Tennis Courts aganst traditional rival Oberlin College at 3:30 p.m. and begins Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 24 at Muskingum College at 1:00 p.m.
