Baldwin-Wallace College Men’s Tennis Trio Earns All-OAC Honors

BEREA, OHIO – Three members of the Baldwin-Wallace College men’s tennis team have earned 2008-09 All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolades. Highlighting the selections was a first-team nod for junior number-three singles player Andy Redd (Archbold).

In addition to Redd, freshman No. 4 Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake) was named a second-team All-OAC selection and senior No. 1 Jim Kucera (Mentor) was tabbed as an honorable mention selection.

Redd posted a 19-6 record overall, including a 16-3 mark at the No. 3 position, and teamed with senior Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) for a 17-6 record at No. 2 doubles. Redd was named an honorable mention selection in each of the last two seasons. In three seasons, Redd has posted a 51-23 singles record and a 53-22 doubles mark.

Trzeciak compiled a team-best 22-3 singles record, including a perfect 18-0 mark at No. 4. His 22 wins are tied for the eighth most in a season in B-W history. Trzeciak also teamed with freshman Taylor Long (Ashland/ Senior) to post an 18-3 record at No. 2 doubles.

Kucera was 13-13 at the No. 1 singles position and posted a 13-7 record at No. 1 doubles with sophomore Matt Lachman (Cleveland Heights/ Lakewood St. Edward). For his career, Kucera compiled a 58-35 singles record and had the second most doubles wins (76) in school history. His combined 134 victories ranks second all-time in B-W history.

B-W finished a successful season at 19-4 overall. The 19 victories marked the seventh straight season that Head Coach Brian Rector’s program won 19 or more matches and advanced to the OAC Final Four.
