BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to Hilton Head, South Carolina for their annual spring break trips. The B-W men had a perfect 4-0 record while the women were 2-4 overall.
For the men, senior number one player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone) led the way with a 4-0 record in singles play and combined with junior No.3 singles player Jim Kucera (Mentor) for a 4-0 slate as the No.1 doubles duo. Overall, the Yellow Jacket men are 9-3 entering a March 22 home match against Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Complext in Berea.
In addition to Daly in singles play, freshman No.2 player Tyler Adams (Wheelersburg) was 4-0, Kucera (Mentor) and sophomore No.4 player Andy Redd (Archbold) each had 3-1 marks and freshman No.5 player Matt Lachman (Avon Lake/ Cleveland St. Edward) and freshman No.6 player Sam Burris (Wooster/ Senior) each were 4-0.
In doubles play and in addition to Daly and Kucera, the No.2 tandem of Adams and Lachman and the No.3 duo of Redd and sophomore Zach Long (Ashland/ Senior) each were 4-0 on the trip.
In women’s tennis, the Yellow Jackets were led by freshman No.3 singles player Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/ Columbus Bishop Hartley) and junior No.6 player Alyssa Trampert (Orchard Park, N.Y./ Orchard Park) both with 5-1 records and freshman No.4 player Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/ Green) was 4-2.
Now 2-6 overall, the B-W women return to action on the courts at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Complex in Berea on March 26 when they host OAC rival Heidelberg College at 3:30 p.m.
