10th-Ranked Baldwin-Wallace falls to 16th-Ranked Ohio Northern 2-1

ADA, OHIO - The 10th ranked Baldwin-Wallace College men’s soccer team falls to 16th-ranked Ohio Northern University, 2-1, this afternoon (Saturday, October 15, 2011) in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at the ONU Soccer Field. The loss ends a school-record 13-match B-W winning streak that dates back to September 3.
With their victory for the Polar Bears improve to 12-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the OAC while Yellow Jackets fall to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.
Following a scoreless first half, B-W took a 1-0 lead at the 50:11 mark when freshman Ben Deighton (Richfield/ Revere) scored his third goal of the season unassisted on a shot from 30 yards out that went into the upper left corner of the goal.
In net, Ryan Hulings (Centerville) faced 16 ONU shots and had nine saves.
The Polar Bears outshot the Yellow Jackets, 16-9, and outcornered B-W, 8-1.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they host the University of Mount Union on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, October 22, the Yellow Jacket men’s and women’s soccer teams will host Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington College in a Seniors’ Day doubleheader that will be televised by SportsTime Ohio (STO). This is the fourth straight year that B-W has televised a soccer doubleheader and will put a perfect 6-0 record on the line. This is the final home regular season match.
