BEREA, OHIO – The third-seeded Baldwin-Wallace College men’s soccer team lost, 2-1, at second-seeded Capital University in the semifinal round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament this afternoon (Thursday, November 5, 2009) at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus. Capital rallied to score a pair of late goals in the 67th and 69th minutes of the contest to end the Yellow Jackets’ OAC tournament run.
B-W got on the board at the 24:32 mark of the first half when junior forward Tyler Leister (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) deflected a ball into the right corner of the net following a pass from junior midfielder Jeff Grater (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls).
Capital tied the score with just 23:06 left on the clock when Ian Warmbrodt deflected a ball off of a B-W defender into the net. The Crusaders then went ahead less than two minutes later when Steven McCarthy scored following a free kick at the 69:16 mark.
In goal, B-W senior Russ Mika (Medina/ Senior) faced 18 shots and made seven saves. Capital’s Justin Bultman recorded five stops in net for the Crusaders.
Each side attempted 18 shots and three corner kicks.
