Baldwin Wallace University Senior Goalie Nate Christian is this week's Ohio Athletic

Conference Soccer Player of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University senior goalie Nate Christian (North Ridgeville) is this week's (released on September 19, 2005) Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Christian led the Yellow Jackets to a perfect 2-0 record last weekend and to the title at the Annual Ohio Athlketic Conference versus Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Shootout at Ohio Northern University. In goal, Christian led BW to victories by shutout in each game as BW beat Kalamzoo (Mich.), 2-0, and Albion (Mich.), 1-0, in the championship game. In 180 minutes of action, Christian did not allow a goal and had eight saves.

The two shutouts give Christian five this year and a school-record 21 in his career. He had a single-season record-tying eight in each his sophomore and junior seasons.

Christian's honor by the OAC marks the third time in his brilliant career that he has been named as the OAC Soccer Player of the Week.

As a sophmore in 2003-2004, Christian was named as the OAC Soccer Player of the Week for his efforts in wins versus Thomas More (Ky.), LaRoche (Pa.) and Kenyon. He ended his sophomore campaign by being named as an Academic All-District IV player by CoSIDA and voted as the team Most Valuable Player by his teammates.

As a junior in 2004-2005, Christian was tabbed as the Most Valuable Player at the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament (on Sept. 11, 2004) and subsequently earned his second OAC Player of the Week honor for the week of Sept. 13-19 for leading BW to three wins, including a tournament title at Virginia Wesleyan. He ended his junior campaign by being named All-Great Lakes Region third-team by the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA).

In addition to being an outstanding soccer player, Christian is a member of the Dean's List, carries a 3.5 grade point average and is a member of the Phi Lamda Phi fraternity and the BW Pre-Law Club.

The Yellow Jacket men's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 21 when they travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania to play Allegheny (Pa.) College at 4:30 p.m.
