Men's Golf

HEAD COACH CHRIS KIBLER

Chris Kibler '94 will enter his sixth season as Head Men’s Golf Coach in 2008-2009. This year he will also enter his first year as Coordinator of Sport Interns/Events in conjunction with the Athletic Department and Division of Health and Physical Education. Each year, Kibler's team is among the best in both the Ohio Athletic Conference and Central Region of Division III. His team had a 60-32-2 overall record and placed fourth at the prestigious OAC Tournament.

In five seasons at his alma mater, Coach Kibler has guided his team to a pair of second place finishes, one third, one fourth and one fifth place finish at the OAC Championship tournaments. In both 2006-2007 and 2005-2006, Kibler's team was nationally ranked in Division III at some point in the season. This spring (2008), Kibler's team received votes in the national Division III Coaches' poll.

A 1994 graduate of the College, Kibler earned a Master’s degree in Sports Administration at Kent State University in 1998. While completing his master’s work at KSU, he served as an assistant basketball coach at B-W for Steve Bankson. Kibler served as the recruiting coordinator for Coach Bankson during the 1997 and 1998 seaons and helped lead the team to the 1998 OAC Tournament Championship and a host site in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Before embarking on his master’s degree at Kent State University, Kibler served as an assistant basketball coach and intramural director at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey during the 1995-96 school year. While there, the men’s basketball team achieved its first and only NCAA post season appearance and had a 16-9 record.

Upon completion of his master’s degree from KSU, Kibler moved on to Gannon and served as an assistant basketball coach for five seasons. He helped guide Gannon’s men’s basketball program to a 105-39 record, including four straight NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances. In the fall of his second season at Gannon, Kibler also served temporarily as an interim golf coach.

As a student at B-W, Kibler majored in business administration, sport management and pre-law. He worked at several internships in professional sports and competed on the men’s vollyeball team.

“ I’ve enjoyed my return to Baldwin-Wallace,” said Kibler.  “B-W is a special place, and it has been a great honor to return to B-W and serve the college as Head Men's Golf Coach."

“Winning the OAC title is our main objective and advancing to the NCAA Division III National Tournament is our goal," said Kibler. "No matter the outcome, I know it will be a lot of fun. Our players are great competitors and very close friends. That makes for a family atmosphere and most importantly a very rewarding experience.”

Kibler is a native of New Concord, Ohio and a graduate of John Glenn High School. He was an Academic All-Muskingum Valley League honoree who competed in football and basketball.
