Spalding is Medalist as BW Men’s Golf Team Finishes Third at Barclay Invitational

GRANVILLE, OHIO – Junior Stephen Spalding (Stow/Walsh Jesuit) was the medalist as the Baldwin Wallace University men’s golf team finished third of 10 teams today (Sunday, April 8, 2012 annual Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison University. Spalding fired a two-day total of 146, including a second round tying low-round of 72.
BW totaled a two-round total of 618 on the par-71 and 6,590-yard Granville Country Club layout. Ohio Wesleyan overcame a three stroke first round deficit to win the team title with a score of 612. Denison, who was the first round leader, finished second with a two-day total of 615.
In addition to Spalding for the Yellow Jackets, freshman Adam Sanders (Fairview Park/ Royalton/Padua) Fairview) tied for ninth as heshot 77 in the second round for a tournament total of 155. Senior Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/Padua Franciscan) finished with a two-round total of 157, including a 76 in the final round. Sophomore Augie Ward (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) and senior Matt Warren (Copley) each fired final rounds of 82 to finish with two-day totals of 162 and 164 respectively.
Playing as individuals, freshman Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/Medina Highland) finished with a tournament total of 163 while senior Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) had a two-day total of 166.
BW will next compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational hosted by Otterbein University on Sunday and Monday, April 15-16 at the Little Turtle Golf Club in Westerville.
