BEREA, OHIO – Five Baldwin-Wallace College student-athletes, diving sensation Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.), golfers Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) and Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area), and tennis players Sam Burris (Wooster) and Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake), have been named to the 2011 CoSIDA/ CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District IV team for their efforts in the classroom and on the field. This is the first appearance on the CoSIDA/CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District IV team for all of the athletes.
Routhieaux was the lone representative from B-W to make the first-team and now qualifies for the CoSIDA/ CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America national ballot. Pinter, Hamilton, Burris, and Trzeciak were all second-team selections.
Pinter, who carries a 3.74 grade average in communication disorders, is a two-time OAC Female Diver of the Year, a four-time OAC champion and a four-time Division III All-American. She reset her school-record in the 1-meter optional diving event versus Penn State Behrend with a score of 259.50 points. Pinter earned OAC Swimmer of the Week honors on three occasions this past season. At ONU, she also set the school-record in the 3-meter optional diving event. At the 2011 OAC Championships, Pinter won the 1-meter and 3-meter events and was named as the OAC Diver of the Year for the second straight season. In the classroom, she was honored as a NCAA Swim Coaches Association Scholar All-American and is a Jacket Scholar who was selected to the 2010-11 Academic All-OAC At-Large team.
Hamilton carries a 3.90 grade average in English. She played in her second season of golf and earned her second letter this spring. Hamilton played in six tournaments, competing in 12 rounds for an average of 88.17 strokes per round. She shot her season-low and tied her career-low of 80 strokes at the OAC tournament during the second round to help the Yellow Jackets overcome a 17-shot deficit to capture the title. Hamilton is a member of the Dean’s List, Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies and is a Jacket Scholar. During this academic year, she was awarded the Dr. Neille & Jeanne Shoemaker English Scholarship as well as the Lillian and Larry D. Bibbee Scholarship. Hamilton was also selected to the 2010-11 Academic All-OAC At-Large team.
Routhieaux, who will graduate next spring with an MBA in the Accounting program, was a four-year starter on the golf team and carried an 80.10 career stroke average. The team captain also earned Academic All-OAC At-Large honors the past three seasons and is also a member of the Dayton C. Miller honor society. As a senior, Routhieaux competed in 10 total tournaments carding his best round of 74 at the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament this past spring.
Burris, who carries a 3.63 grade average in the MBA of Accounting program, played No.5 singles for a men’s tennis team that finished with a 21-5 overall record and won 79 matches during his four seasons. He had an 81-19 career singles record and his 81 victories ranks second all-time in school history. Burris also had a 22-9 career mark in doubles. In the classroom, he is a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society. Burris was also selected as a member of the Academic All-OAC At-Large team the past two seasons.
Trzeciak, who has a 3.68 GPA in economics, has played No.1 singles the past two seasons and is a three-time All-OAC selection who has compiled a 61-16 career singles and 57-20 career doubles mark. This season, he had a 22-5 singles slate and a 20-8 doubles mark. In the classroom, Trzeciak is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Alpha Lambda honor societies and was awarded the Toni and Max Dehn Prize in Mathematics. He was also selected to the 2010-11 Academic All-OAC At-Large team. Trzeciak has been named to the Academic All-OAC At-Large team the past two seasons.
