The seven women’s honorees are golfer Molly Scheetz (Canton/ Massillon Perry), swimmers Erica Brubach (Powell/ Olentangy), Stephanie Markley (Mansfield/ Senior) and Ryan Ryenolds (Westerville/ South), and tennis student-athletes Krista Marshall (Medina/ Senior), Tiffany Allison (Chagrin Falls/ Kenston) and Meggie Glassburn (Canton/ Massillon Jackson). The men’s honorees are wrestlers Brian Haines (Amanda/ Teays Valley) and Jeremy Feador (North Olmsted) and golfers Nick Bryan (Zanesville/ Bishop Rosecrans) and Matt Lewis (Canal Fulton/ Northwest).
Scheetz, a senior economics major who earned a 3.79 grade point average, has been the number-one golfer the past four seasons. The two-year captain averaged a team-best 88.00 strokes per round and carded a season-low 84 strokes at the Wittenberg University Tournament. She is a four-time All-OAC player and makes the Academic All-OAC team for the third straight year. Scheetz was is a two-time Division III National Collegiate Golf Coaches’ Association Scholar honoree and a two-time ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV choice. She is one of the best to ever play at B-W and her 87.84 career stroke average ranks second all-time.
Brubach, a senior education major who earned a 3.95 grade average, completed her fourth season of swimming with one of the best seasons of her career. She was ranked in the top-five on the swimming team in four events, including second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:50.87), and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.68), 100-yard freestyle (1:00.04), and the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.45). Brubach is also a member of numerous honor societies and is a Jacket Scholar. This is her third straight Academic All-OAC accolade.
Markley, an senior education major who earned a 3.43 grade average, had an outstanding senior season. She was named the OAC Swimmer of the Week on November 5, 2007. Markley also earned All-OAC honors with a third place (1:09.38) finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and a second place (2:30.20) in the 200-yard breaststroke. During her career, Markley received multiple All-OAC accolades.
Reynolds, a sophomore political science major who earned a 3.39 grade average, received honorable mention accolades. This season, Reynolds won All-OAC accolades after she won the 200-yard butterfly event in 2:19.36 and placed third in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.71) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:57.42). She also has earned multiple All-OAC accolades in her two seasons.
Marshall, a senior health promotion and education major who earned a 3.75 grade average, helped the Yellow Jacket tennis team to its second straight OAC regular season and tourmament championships and a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III National Tournament for the second straight year. Marshall ended her career with a 55-52 singles mark and a 71-39 slate in doubles. Her 126 career combination triumphs ranks fifth all-time in school history. This is her second straight Academic All-OAC honor.
Allison, a senior criminal justice and sociology double-major, earned a 3.66 grade average. She was the No. 1 singles player and part of the No. 1 doubles tandem. She was also named OAC Player of the Week on April 7. Allison ended her career third all-time in singles wins (70 and a 70-29 record), third in doubles wins (69 and a 69-31 record) and third all-time in combination wins (139 and 139-60 overall). This is her third straight Academic All-OAC honor.
Glassburn is a senior early childhood education major who earned a 3.60 grade average. On May 14, she was named OAC Player of the Week. Glassburn also ended her career tied with Allison for third all-time in singles wins with 70 and had a 70-32 career slate. Her 91 career doubles wins are the most in B-W, OAC and Ohio collegiate history for women. Her 161 career combination victories ranks second all-time. This is Glassburn’s third straight Academic All-OAC honor.
Haines, a senior biology major who earned a 3.74 grade average, was the 197-pound starter for the Yellow Jackets and earned OAC Wrestler of the Week honors on February 4. He won the 197 pound individual title at B-W’s 22nd Annual John Summa Invitational Tournament. Haines recorded his best season as a collegian after he posted a 14-12 overal record (between 184 and 197 pounds), including 30 takedowns, 28 escapes, three reversals, 12 near falls, and one pin. Haines was also named as a Division III Collegiate Wrestling Coaches Association All-American Scholar.
Feador, a senior history major who earned a 3.58 grade average, recorded an 18-13 record as the 174-pound starter. He finished in second place at the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology Tournament and followed that up with a third place finish at the OAC Championship Tournament. Feador was also named as a National Collegiate Wrestling Coaches Association Division III All-American Scholar. He finished his career with a 51-45 record and 23 falls. This marks the second straight year that Feador has been named to the Academic All-OAC squad.
Bryan, a sophomore biology major who earned a 3.79 grade average, received honorable mention Academic All-OAC honors. He was the No. 1 player this season before his season was cut short due to an injury. In his only spring tournament in 2008, he carded a 77 against Calvin College. Bryan played in five tournaments during the Fall of 2007 and averaged 74.0 strokes per round to set a single-season school- record. After two seasons, including 17 tournaments and 32 rounds, he owns a 77.08 career stroke average.
Lewis, a senior business administration major who earned a 3.28 grade average, also received honorable mention honors. He served the team as its three-year captain and was the OAC Player of the Week on April 14 after he was a medalist at the 54-hole OAC Invitational Tournament at River Greens Golf Club. Lewis earned All-OAC accolades as a sophomore with a 10th place individual finish. This year, he averaged 78.12 strokes during the fall season and 76.76 strokes during the spring season. His 78.98 career stroke average is among the best in school history.
