Yellow Jacket Senior Thad Davis is Named as the OAC Player of the Week for the

Third Time This Year and Fifth Overall

BEREA, OHIO —Baldwin-Wallace College senior forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It is the third time he has won the award this season and the fifth time in his outstanding four-year career.

Davis earned the honor for his efforts in leading B-W to the Hampden-Sydney (Va.) "Weenie" Miller Holiday Tournament title with wins against Hood (Md.) College, 88-58, and host Hampden-Sydney, 75-67. Davis was named as the tournament Most Valuable Player.

In B-W's blowout win against Hood, Davis played just 21 minutes and scored eight points and had eight rebounds with three blocked shots. In the championship game win versus Hampden-Sydney, Davis scored 21 of his game-high 27 points in the second half as B-W overcame two 10-point deficits to win its second tournament title of the year. Davis also had a game-high 15 rebounds, canned 12-of-16 shots from the floor and blocked three more shots.

For the season, Davis is leading the OAC in scoring (20.1 points-per-game) and rebounding (13.2 rpg.) and tops B-W, 9-2 overall, in blocked shots with 25 and is second in steals with 12. Davis earned OAC Player of the Week honors earlier this season on Nov. 29 for his efforts in wins against Case and Thiel (Pa.). In the Thiel game, Davis scored a career-high 37 points. He also earned the honor on Dec. 20 for his efforts in OAC wins against Ohio Northern and versus Capital. Davis had a season-high 19 rebounds against ONU.

For his career, Davis currently stands eighth all-time on the B-W scoring list with 1,562 points and seventh in rebounding with 798. He is a two-time All-OAC player, including a first-team pick last winter. In 2003-2004, Davis was also a second-team All-Great Lakes Regfion pick by the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) and a third-team All-Great Lakes Region choice by D3hoops.com internet web site. The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, January 5 when they host OAC-rival Mount Union College in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
