Tom Thompson completed his first season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2010-11.

Coach Thompson is familar with the Northeast Ohio basketball landscape as he was a head coach at local high schools for 17 years before joining Head Coach Duane Sheldon’s staff. Most recently, Thompson was the Head Boys Baskeball Coach for 11 years at Rocky River High School. Prior to Rocky River, Thompson directed the boys basketball program at Strongsville High School for six seasons. He complied a career record of 198-177.

Thompson is a graduate of Berea High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cleveland State University. He also holds a Master of Education degree from Ashland University. He taught health and physical education in the Strongsville City School system for 20 years and is currently in his 12th year teaching physical education in the Rocky River City Schools.

In addition to his basketball coaching and teaching duties, Thompson was Head Cross Country Coach at Strongsville High School for 11 years, Head Golf Coach at Rocky River High School for eight years and Head Track & Field Coach at Rocky River for five years.

Coach Thompson currently resides in Berea with his wife, Laurie, and his three children, Chad, Megan and Jenny.
