BEREA, OHIO -- Brothers Thad and Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) combined to score 40 points and grab 21 rebounds as the Baldwin-Wallace College men's basketball team beat Ohio Athletic Conference and rival Muskingum College, 69-64 in overtime, in an OAC game in New Concord.
With its win, B-W improves to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the OAC. With its loss, Muskingum fell to 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the OAC.
For B-W, junior forward Thad Davis scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds and freshman forward Tori Davis had 18 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. In addition, junior guard Tom Harrington (North Royalton/ Parma Heights Holy Name) had 10 points and seven assists.
Muskingum was led by sophomore center Cole Pittis' 18 points. He was seven of eight from the floor. In addition, sophomore guard Zach Ross had 17 points and 10 rebounds, junior forward Cliff Sprang had 13 points and freshman guard Jeff Smallwood had 10 points.
In the first half, B-W led by as many as 11 points at 22-11 when freshman guard Matt Marks (Boardman) canned a three-pointer. Muskingum then outscored B-W 15-2 to take its first lead at 26-24 when Sprang canned a jumper and made a foul shot to complete a three-point play. The Muskie first half run was capped by a three-pointer by Ross at the buzzer to build their biggest lead at six points at halftime, 34-28.
In the second half, each team had 7-0 runs to start the half before B-W took its first lead of the half at 49-48 with 1:41 left in the game. Then Ross scored off an offensive rebound at the 1:05 mark and two foul shots with 23.7 seconds left gave the Muskies a 52-49 lead. B-W then tied the game with 4.5 seconds left when junior guard Tom Harrington canned a three-pointer.
In the overtime, B-W led by as many as four points at 65-61 lead when Thad Davis completed a three-point play. After a Ross triple with 14.7 seconds left brought Muskingum within 65-64, sophomore guard Keith Aufmuth (Brooklyn) and Thad Davis made four foul shots in the final 12.9 seconds to seal the win.
With his 22 points today, Thad Davis now has 1,151 career points and is now 17th all-time on the Yellow Jacket scoring charts and one point shy of Dick Selgo (1947-50).
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Wednesday, January 21, when they host OAC rival Heidelberg College at 7:30 p.m. in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.

RADIO -- All away B-W men's basketball games are broadcast on campus radio station WBWC, 88.3 FM. This game will be broadcast live from New Concord and Muskingum College at 3:00 p.m. The pregame show is scheduled usually 15 minutes prior to tipoff.

The Pregame Notes -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's basketball team will look to get back on the winning track they travel to New Concord, Ohio to take on the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum College. The Yellow Jackets also have eight straight wins against Muskingum. The Yellow Jackets enter this game with a 9-5 overall and 4-3 OAC record following their 97-91 loss against John Carroll University on Wednesday in Berea. Muskingum enters this game with a 7-7 overall and 3-4 OAC record following its 65-52 loss against Capital University in New Concord on January 14. The Fighting Muskies have lost two straight games and three of their last four games overall.
The All-Time Baldwin-Wallace Versus Muskingum All-Time Series-- This is the 80th all-time meeting between Baldwin-Wallace College and Muskingum College in men's basketball. The Fighting Muskies lead the all-time series between the two schools, 47-32, but B-W has won eight straight games. The Yellow Jackets won the last meeting, 60-46, on February 1, 2003 in New Concord. The last Muskingum win came on January 1, 2000 in New Concord by the final score of 77-65.
The Baldwin-Wallace College Starters -- Look for veteran Yellow Jackets Head Coach Steve Bankson to start 6'3" junior Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School), 6'3" freshman Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) and 6'5" freshman Matt Marks (Board-man) on the inside. At the point guard will be 5'11" junior Tom Harrington (North Royalton/ Parma Heights Holy Name) and at the wing will be 6'0" sophomore Keith Aufmuth (Brooklyn). Thad Davis leads the team in scoring at 20.1 ppg., leads the OAC in rebounding at 10.2 rpg. and is second in the OAC with 31 blocked shots. Tori Davis is second in scoring at 13.5 ppg. and rebounding at 7.8 rpg, and leads the OAC with 37 blocked shots. Aufmuth is third in scoring at 12.4 ppg and is 23 of 56 from three-point range for 41 percent. Harrington is scoring 8.7 ppg. and tops the team with 82 assists and has canned 22 treys. Marks is averaging 7.7 ppg. and 2.5 rpg. Off the bench, look for Bankson to play 6'2" freshman guard Nick Meyer (Mentor), 6'4" junior post player Jeremy Coffey (Hudson/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and 6'0" freshman guard David Rispinto (New Middletown/ Springfield Local) to all see time. In addition, 6'1" sophomore guard Greg Williams (Euclid) and 6'6" sophomore post player Mark Belkofer (Millbury/Genoa) will play. Williams has started two of the past three games.
The Muskingum College Probable Starters and Preview-- Look for Head Coach Dr. Jim Burson to start 6'2" junior Matt Dansby, 6'3" sophomore Zach Ross and 5'8" freshman Jeff Smallwood in the backcourt. Look for 6'4" sophomore Cole Pittis and 6'7" sophomore Jason Trout to start in the post. Ross tops the Muskies in scoring at 14.8 ppg, leads the team with 39 made three-pointers, and is second in rebounding at 3.9 rpg. Smallwood is second on the team in scoring at 9.1 ppg. and Cliff Sprang leads the team with 36 assists coming off the bench. In addition to 6'3" junior forward Cliff Sprang, look for Coach Burson to play 5'10" junior guard Tom Price, 6'3" junior forward Cliff Sprang and 6'5" sophomore forward Devin Barnhouse off the bench. Also look for 6'4" junior post Roy Skidmore, 6'3" freshman wing Graig Turson and 6'3" freshman forward Andy Mix to all see action.
In B-W's Last Game: John Carroll -- 97, Baldwin-Wallace -- 91 on Wednesday, January 14 in Berea, Ohio -- The Yellow Jackets were defeated 97-91 on Wednesday night by OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. Despite the loss, freshman forward Tori Davis led B-W in scoring with a career-high 24 points and in blocked shots with three. He was joined in double figures by freshman guard Matt Marks with 18 points, including four three-pointers. Also in double figures were junior All-OAC forward Thad Davis with 17 points, freshman guard Nick Meyer with 12 points and sophomore guard Keith Aufmuth with 10 points.
In Muskingum's Last Game: Capital-- 65, Muskingum --52 on Wednesday, January 14 in New Concord, Ohio -- The Fighting Muskies were defeated by OAC rival Capital University 65-52 on Wednesday night in New Concord. Leading the Muskies was freshman guard Jeff Smallwood with 13 points. He was joined by three other players with eight points each. Leading the way for Capital was Adam Stolly with 17 points. Jake Beck joined him in double figures with 15 points.
